Cerumen/Earwax Removal

Did you know that one of the most effective ways to remove excess/stubborn👂🏽wax in the comfort of your home is by using hydrogen peroxide? We advise that you don’t use Q-tips because it can push the wax further inside or cause damage to your eardrum. You can use store -bought solutions like Debrox or Murine or you can use drops of hydrogen peroxide at home.

Please note that Hydrogen peroxide can cause skin irritation and blistering. Using too much of it can irritate the skin inside the ear, leading to inflammation and earaches. Due to the possibility of irritation, you should use a 1:1 ratio of water and hydrogen peroxide. As always, remember to consult with your doctor or healthcare provider before using any homemade solutions. You should not use ear drops if you have an ear infection or a damaged eardrum, unless advised or prescribed by your healthcare provider.

The process may involve repetitive actions. While lying down on your side, you apply a couple of drops into each ear 👂🏽(you may need to do this two or three times a day and repeat up to 1 week, if really impacted). Stay still for about 5 minutes for absorption, then use a paper towel or tissue to clean any discharge that comes out. Repeat process for second ear 👂🏽.
