Have you checked your cholesterol levels lately? High cholesterol levels can increase your risks of narrowing of the arteries (atherosclerosis),
heart attack, stroke, and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Cholesterol is a waxy, fat like substance that is found in all cells of the body (picture below). We cannot do without cholesterol because our bodies need it for essential functions such as to make hormones, vitamin D, bile salts and in the creation of neurotransmitters for our brains and nervous system. We get cholesterol from the food we eat and if it is too high, it can block our arteries and cause major health problems as stated above.
