Do you see any correlation between these two chronic diseases? They both affect the same organs in the body. Protect your self, eat right, watch your weight, exercise, avoid alcohol and tobacco, and take your prescribed medications daily.

BLOOD PRESSURE CATEGORY SYSTOLIC mm Hg (upper number)

DIASTOLIC mm Hg (lower number)

NORMAL LESS THAN 120 and LESS THAN 80

Elevated BP: 120– 129 and LESS THAN 80

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (HYPERTENSION) STAGE 1: 130– 139or80 – 89HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (HYPERTENSION) STAGE 2:140 OR HIGHER or 90 OR HIGHER


Hypertensive Crisis: (consult your doctor immediately)HIGHER THAN 180and/orHIGHER THAN 120

Diabetes

Hemoglobin A1C :

Less than 5.7- no diabetes

5.7-6.4- Prediabetes

Greater or equal to 6.5- Diabetes

*Glycemic control for diabetics: HgA1c less than 7

Discuss with your primary care provider regarding your blood pressure and diabetes management as each person is different.
